FEBRUARY 17 - MARCH 25, 2018
If we surveyed a section of Lakeside and asked what our current conversations about God are like we’d get a wide variety of answers. Beautiful to non-existent. Engaging to volatile. Enlightening to scary. Peaceful to uncomfortable. Quiet to hostile. Playful to apprehensive.
If you follow Jesus today, it’s because someone told you about him. Somewhere. Somehow. As Jesus followers, most of us know that talk about God is part of the deal. But, knowing that doesn’t necessarily make it any easier to engage in. In fact, thinking there is something required of us that we don’t fully understand can often be the catalyst for unwanted anxiety.
In this series, we’ll explore what the world currently thinks about God and the current state of the church. We’ll discuss how talk about God has changed and, in some cases, how it needs to change. We’ll ask questions like, “Why should I care?” and “What am I supposed to do as a follower of Jesus?” We’ll talk about the Church’s successful and not-so-successful God Talk moments. We’ll dive into stories in the Bible where God Talk is modeled for us and we’ll dialogue about detailing our own God-story and how to share that story.
