Just three months ago the North Bay was decimated by the worst fires in recent history. Over 245 thousand acres burned, 3100 homes destroyed, 100 thousand evacuated, and 42 deaths. Sonoma county and the city of Santa Rosa were especially hard hit. While not making network news often today, hundreds remain displaced living in FEMA trailers or with friends and neighbors, and many have lost jobs.
We want to thank everyone for the huge support of the Disaster Relief Fund set up last October - but the need will continue in the months to come. Most of the needs we see now are more individual and family specific, so our Disaster Relief donations will be directed to the Sonoma Foster-a-Family program – a faith-based effort working with over 20 local area churches to match contributions to support specific families and their specific needs.
At some point, there will be a need for a volunteer force to mobilize for some Saturday day trips to help with hammers, shovels, and all kinds of support skills. If that is something you would be interested, stay tuned for more information in the weeks to come. In the meantime you can support the ongoing efforts of the Foster-a-Family program through donations to our Disaster Relief fund.Contribute to
