High School

High school can be one of the most challenging times to build strong friendships that will last.  That's why we offer weekly gatherings, small groups, and special events throughout the year as a way for students to be personal and stay connected.  They'll be able to share with, lean on, learn from, and teach each other as they grow in their faith.

Our large group gathering is every Saturday night. Students gather to encounter Jesus through message, media, worship and community.

Saturday Nights
6:30 - 7:45 PM
The Block Basement (downstairs in the Student Ministries building, next door to our Main Auditorium)

High school can be a challenging time for many students.  Encounter has small groups that meet weekly during the school year.  This is a great place for high school students to get connected with their peers and talk about issues relevant to teens and their faith.  Click here for more info and to register.

Our Special Needs ministry is prepared to serve all children, teens, young adults, and families with unique needs.  Our programs offer children and teens with special needs an opportunity to interact with each other and with typical peers in a variety of environments. We offer special needs classrooms and buddies for children and teens during all of our weekend gatherings, and seek to support parents and siblings in their unique family situations

We also offer a monthly Kidsfest Respite Night for children, teens, and their siblings to gift parents with a night off. Our Respite Nite is typically held on the first Friday of each month (6:00 - 9:00 PM) at the church. Advanced reservations are requested so that we can ensure we have the proper staffing in place to welcome and care for your children.

Join us over Spring Break April 15-19, 2019. We head to San Francisco to serve the poor and marginalized with City Impact in the Tenderloin district.  More information available in December.

Every summer high school students spend a week in the mountains at our annual CampOut.  This is an amazing week of boating, paintball, archery, games, small groups, making new friends and engaging with Jesus.  For many students this is the best week of their summer.  June 17-21, 2019 at Sly Park.  Registration opens on April 8

We host our annual All Night adventure over Veterans Day weekend each November.

We want to be sure that you have all the information you need to get plugged in with everything great we have to offer. Along with this website we also post information about the weekly happenings on Facebook (/encounterlakeside) and Instagram (@encounterlakeside). Be sure not to miss the monthly email that gives an outlook of the upcoming dates, events, and important information.  Click here if you would like to request to be added to the email list.

We are always looking for parents that are interested in becoming a part of our volunteer team.  Encounter has several opportunities to get involved – from small group leaders, to helping prepare food for special events, there’s a place for you to come alongside our students. Or you may have something to offer this ministry to help us with annual events (i.e. the use of your pool for a BBQ event or your cabin for one of our trips).  If you would like to learn more about ways you can help, please contact us!

We dive into a variety of topics throughout the year.  If you'd like to learn more about what we're talking about and discover ideas to spark conversation at home, check out our "Encounter calendar and topics"  and our "Current series parent page".

Want to have coffee with Doug?  We would love the chance to get to know you more and discuss how we can better partner with you to transform your student into a passionate and productive follower of Jesus.  Click here to schedule a time to meet.
